The presentation in Detroit showed a truly new car, exceeding expectations. The new generation of Toyota Camry is going to be stronger and lighter. All this thanks to a new global TNGA platform with a lower center of gravity. The other models like Toyota Prius and Toyota C-HR are based on the same platform.


The new Camry has an emotional design “Keen Look” with a two-section grille and aggressive bumper with large air intake openings. Sporty looking, low profile of the car in combination with the narrow struts provides the best aerodynamics and a good overview for driver and passengers. The exterior mirrors are enlarged, but placed on short racks. Camry’s body of the 8th generation increased in size not significant comparing to the 7th generation of the model. The biggest increase of 50 mm is observed in the wheelbase area of the novelty. Concluding, we can notice that it makes a larger reserve of seats for passengers at the rear of the cabin.

For those drivers who will not like the design exactly like the salon. It is capable of striking and the equipment is stunning.

There is no such a front panel and a center console in any modern car. The Japanese company’s contractors worked 100%, creating a unique curved console that forms the real cockpit of the driver’s working area. At the same time, the 8-inch screen of the multimedia system Toyota Entune 3.0 (remote control, 4G LTE Internet access, hot-spot Wi-Fi for 5 devices, rear view camera) and the climate control unit.

The interior space has probably been increased due to an increase of 5 cm to the wheelbase. The fully redesigned interior demonstrates the high quality of interior trim materials, a modern approach in the shape of an asymmetrical front panel is a futuristic and a new multimedia system with an 8-inch touchscreen and blue backlighting. The new front seats with expressive lateral support and anatomical profile of the back was prepared for the new generation of Toyota Camry. According to the representatives of the Japanese company, the rear sofa has also become more hospitable.


The line of power units will be replenished with a 2-liter 245-horsepower gasoline turbo engine. It remains faithful to the previous generation 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine which will equip the system with a direct fuel injection. The hybrid version will be improved. Its total capacity will be 200 hp. There is no confirmed information regarding the 3.5-liter V6 engine yet. The engines will be equipped with the latest eight-speed automatic transmission. The front suspension of the car is McPherson and the rear is the multi-link mechanism with double levers.

Toyota Camry with 2.5 L, 4 cylinders is rated to do 29 mpg in the city and 41 mpg on the highway. Having a 3.5 L, 6 cylinders it is doing 22 mpg in the city and 33 highways.


The beginning of sales of the new Camry is scheduled for April 2018. There is no information on prices yet, but for the model there will be offered 10 fixed complete sets: three for cars with a base motor of 2.0, five for versions with a 2.5-liter engine and two for top version of V6.


It is hard to say about price-quality ratio without prices, but one thing we know is that the car has high gasoline consumption. However, it might be justified by a low price.
