It is true that it will release its not a legendary Italian firm, but a new company based in Germany.
The new company Automobili Pininfarina became an independent business unit launched by the Mahindra & Mahindra concern. Recall, the Indians acquired the Italian studio Pinifarina S.p.A. at the end of 2015. The head of the studio Paolo Pininfarina at the presentation of the new company said that the German Pininfarina would simply be “one of the customers.”
The specialization of the German Pininfarina will be the production of electric vehicles. By the way, the first one is planned for 2020. This is a hypercar, some technologies for which will be borrowed from the racing car Formula-E, exhibited by Mahindra. It is claimed that the electric hypercar will accelerate to the first hundred kilometers in less than two seconds, the acceleration time to 300 km / h will be 12 seconds, the maximum speed will exceed 400 km / h and the power reserve will be about 500 km. It is planned to issue 100 such hypercars at an estimated price of 2 million euros.
True, the hypercar is prepared the role of a promotional model Pininfarina, and in the future the company will produce a more massive product – electric crossovers. But, the crosses will also not be quite massive, as competitors are considered off-road cars Bentley Bentayga and Range Rover in top executions. The starting price tag of the future Pinzinfarina electric sprinkler will be about 150 thousand euros.
PININFARINA WILL BRING A PAIR OF NOVELTIES TO THE BEIJING MOTOR SHOW
By the way, at the Beijing Motor Show at the end of this month, the Pininfarina studio will demonstrate a couple of new concepts built to order
Recently in Geneva, the Pininfarina studio introduced the HK GT coupe with a 1,088-strong electric power unit including four electric motors. A year earlier at the Geneva Motor Show debuted the H600 sedan, and a pair of crossovers K550 and K750 were presented in China. Soon in Beijing the premiere of two following novelties will take place, one of which will be the conceptual sedan H500.
The new four-door model, most likely, is also equipped with a hybrid powerplant, although it is not known how many electric motors it works in and it performs the functions of an on-board generator, since a smaller index indicates a more affordable price and possibly simplified technical stuffing.
Probably, the H500 will become the base model of the ruler. The design of the doors is also in favor of this, they are traditional, whereas the H600 rear doors open up against the turn, and the aforementioned GT coupe got the “gull wings”.
Note that all the concepts of interiors are made in different ways, probably, the designers of Pininfarina are trying to find the best option. In the latter concept, the upholstery of the salon is similar to the fabric, also, in turn, hinting at availability.
Simplification of the H500 power plant can be achieved by reducing the number of motors, as well as, for example, replacing hydrogen fuel cells or a gas microturbine with a traditional ICE. By the way, all the above-mentioned Hybrid Kinetic prototypes will find their embodiment in serial cars, which will be sold in the Chinese and European markets. Their output is expected in four to five years.
The second prototype in Beijing will be the crossover K350, which, presumably, will take the place of the base in the line of all-terrain vehicles.
THE LINE MERCEDES-AMG WILL BE REPLENISHED WITH ONE MORE MODEL
The AMG range currently includes two models that are not in the portfolio of the Mercedes-Benz brand. This is the sport car Mercedes-AMG GT, available in two types of bodywork – coupe and roadster, as well as liftback, introduced in the market under the same name – GT, however, it uses its own platform and architecture. In the near future, they will be joined by another model, the head of AMG Tobias Moers told Autocar.
It would seem that there is no need to ask which car will be next, because the AMG line does not have crossovers, which popularity has soared to the skies in recent years, but Moers rejected this option. He stated that all crossovers and SUVs of Mercedes-Benz have “charged” versions of AMG and there is simply no free slot for this type of model.
What exactly will be the car in question, Moers did not say. According to rumors, the place of the third model will come compact sports car, which will be placed under the GT and will compete in the market with models Porsche 718 Cayman / Boxster.
Model Mercedes-Benz SLC, which, by the way, has an improved version of AMG, will not compete with the future novelty, since it is positioned as a walking car, whereas the character of the future sports car will be more aggressive and more driver. In addition, Tobias Moers said that by 2020, the Mercedes-AMG elevator will acquire an extreme version with a hybrid power plant, which will include a four-liter “biturbo-watch” and electric motors, developing a combined capacity of about 800 hp. We can assume that such a system will replace the V12 engine, from which the manufacturer intends to abandon.
THE WORLD’S FIRST ROAD IS OPENED AND CHARGING ELECTRIC VEHICLES ON THE MOVE
The pilot project started in Sweden: a two-kilometer stretch connects the Stockholm-Arlanda airport with the nearest transport hub.
The first in the world route, on which you can charge electric vehicles on the go, appeared in Sweden. This is a two-kilometer section, in the roadbed of which special rails are built. The electric current passes through them by means of a contact that is attached to the connector on the bottom of the electric vehicle.
As reported by The Guardian, in order to recharge the electric car, the driver must connect the cable to the vehicle before commencing traffic. In this case, when the vehicle leaves the “charging” section of the road, this contact will disconnect automatically.
In Sweden, by 2030, they plan to reduce the level of dependence on fossil fuels in the transport sector by 70%. This should help such an electrified road, are already exploring options for expanding the project. And we are talking not only about this state: we are already negotiating with Berlin.
To date, in Sweden, only half a million kilometers of roads, while, according to the founder of the project Hans Zell, the modernization for charging electric cars on the move needs no more than 5% of the roads (of the total). “If we electrify 20,000 km of highway, this, of course, will be enough. The distance between the routes does not exceed 45 km, and electric vehicles are already passing such a stretch of the road without recharging, “he explained.
The construction of one kilometer of this route accounts for about one million euros. According to the authors of the project, such a road will cost 50 times cheaper, compared with the creation of a similar length of the tram line. They believe that such roads will help the development of electric transport, which is not in high demand in the country (in comparison with neighboring Norway) due to a small power reserve and expensive large batteries. With dynamic charging, the batteries may have less capacity, which means that costs will also be reduced.
Let’s note, in the spring of last year in Sweden there were approximately 10 000 electromobiles, whereas in Norway – about 100 000 units. At the same time in the first country there were 3,300 electric stations, and in the second – 9,000 gas stations. The state helps to increase demand: subsidies are allocated to stimulate the market in Sweden, and tax privileges are applied in Norway.
Experts explained that such roads are safe, since electricity is not on the surface. Even if such a route is flooded, it will be possible to walk barefoot and not be afraid of electric shock.
Previously, this technology has already been tested in Sweden, but with the help of overhead power lines that were installed at the level of trucks. Because of this, the electric cars could not be recharged on the go. The current version is suitable for any electric transport.
